Back from rock n roll exile and all powered up.....The High Powered Papas are one of Wild Hare Records newest, yet oldest acts.
The Papas are comprised of three of roots rock's finest musicians.
Thommy Burns is considered by many, as a founding father of the modern rockbilly movement and was instrumental in the wildly popular band The Atomics. A veteran of many bands including The Stubenville Knights and The Old Line Skiffle Combo; Thommy was the first artist to record (2002) at the now famous New Hope Recording Studio in Berkeley Springs, WV. Most recently Thommy has taken a wild ride into his first love of Western Swing and Hillbilly Boogie with many fine recordings featured on Wild Hare releases. Thommy's crystal clear vocals, song writing ability and musicianship are topped by no one in the roots genre.
Jason "Hoss" Hicks, is the most frantic rock n roller to ever record at Wild Hare. Veteran of many bands including The Stubenville Knights, Wendy LaBeau and Her Beaus and The Old Line Skiffle Combo; Hoss is an unbelievable song writer and performer. Hoss keeps you on the edge of your seat and is huge crowd pleaser. Hoss (Mr Frantic), is a true individual and his writing and singing has been compared to Buddy Holly. But his performances are more like Ronnie Self.
Dave Moore, is co owner of Wild Hare Records and spends most of his time now, engineering records for other artists. Once called "one of the best roots rock guitarists in the US", Dave is a prolific songwriter, who plays 14 instruments. Dave's best work has been backing historic artists Vernon Taylor, Billy Adams, Pat Cupp, Joe Penny and contemporary artists The Garnet Hearts, The Saddle Pals, Buck Stevens and a plethora of other artists. His lead guitar work is raw and pure hillbilly jazz/blues.
A full length CD is being planned for mid summer 2008 release. You don't want to miss this one!
